Duties And Responsibilities of The Technician Position at Garnet Volkswagen of West Chester

The successful candidate for the technician position will perform the following duties:

• Receive repair orders from the dispatcher and take them to the stall area or appointed area.
• Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy to ensure sufficient quality for our customers. This should be done following dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform the repair as authorized.
• Demonstrate good communication skills by communicating with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Handle parts by tagging, saving, and turning them in, whether the job is under warranty or requested by the customer.
• Demonstrate effective communication by advising the service advisor immediately if any additional work is needed, if the outlined work is not necessary, or if repairs cannot be completed in the promised time.
• Document all work performed in a concise and clear manner.
• Perform road tests on completed vehicles to ensure safety and quality.
• Maintain high-quality work by checking completed service before returning the vehicle.
• Attend training classes when required or supplement existing skills.
• Maintain knowledge base by reading current factory technical bulletins.
• Maintain high cleanliness standards when working on customers’ vehicles.
• Administer safety and housekeeping policies and procedures as outlined by management.
• Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations governing service repair work.
